Brady People ID Showcases Secure Badgeholder

Las Vegas, NV (September 24, 2007) – An innovative and patent-pending ID badge holder designed to help thwart identity theft will be highlighted at this week’s ASIS show by Brady People ID, the industry leader in people identification solutions. Secure Badgeholder is a rigid plastic card holder that provides a barrier to shield against unauthorized access to information stored on PIV (Personal Identity Verification) cards, CAC (Common Access Card) cards, and other contactless smart card applications.

“According to FBI statistics, identity theft is the nation's fastest growing crime and the fastest-growing category of Federal Trade Commission complaints,” said Bill Kieckhafer, Brady People ID. “Our Secure Badgeholder uses a unique approach to prevent the unauthorized scanning of RF-enabled contactless smart cards. It’s a quick and reliable solution for users who may be at risk or need to comply with federal regulations.”

Secure Badgeholder, a trademark of Identity Stronghold, provides a barrier to radio frequency signals that are necessary for communication with smart cards. It is also the only shielded badge holder designed to allow card reading without the need to remove the contactless card. By simply squeezing Secure Badgeholder’s activation tabs, the card is able to communicate with a reader and as soon as the tabs are released the contactless smart card is shielded again. The wearer controls who reads the card and when it is read.

Brady People ID’s Secure Badgeholder is also designed to hold a smart card securely in place, yet allow easy, one-handed removal of the card from the badge holder when necessary. The Secure Badgeholder protects the card and is weather- and water- resistant.
