Aug. 18, 2006
Solicitation of quotes expected by Aug. 31

The EPA has released a pre-solicitation seeking 30,000 smart cards. In its request (linked from the official Federal Business Opportunities website below), the EPA indicates it is seeking quotes on smart cards by the end of this month, with an Aug. 31, deadline.

The cards will be part of the EPA’s EPASS program (EPA Personnel Access and Security System), the EPA’s program to meet HSPD-12/FIPS 201 requirements.

According to the EPA’s request, “This system will establish a compliant credentialing program that encompasses the full set of badge life cycle activities while enhancing the security of EPA employees and personnel, facilities and IT systems.”

Vendors and solution providers can view the full request online at the FBO website: www1.fbo.gov/spg/EPA/OAM/HQ/RFQ%2DDC%2D06%2D00357/SynopsisP.html.

The EPA has asked that quotes be in writing and sent to EPA Contracting Officer Rachel Schwartz, at [email protected].
