Gamewell-FCI's E3 Series Achieves UL 9th Edition Smoke Control Approval

July 19, 2006
Approved for smoke control, E3 series can be installed in non-dedicated HVAC equipment to control smoke flow through building

Northford, CT - Gamewell-FCI, a Honeywell (NYSE:HON) company, is an industry-leading manufacturer and complete single-source provider of commercial fire and life safety systems. The E3 Series, Gamewell-FCI’s newest expandable emergency evacuation system released September 2005, is reportedly the first to be approved by Underwriters Laboratories’ (UL) for controlling smoke throughout a building/structure per the new ninth edition of UL code 864.

As an approved system for smoke control, the E3 Series can now be installed to work in conjunction with non-dedicated HVAC equipment to form a system for controlling the flow of smoke in a building during a fire condition. Utilizing fans, ducts and dampers, the E3 Series system uses compartmentalization and pressurization to limit and/or control smoke movement within a building.

Members of the specifying community had already begun taking notice of the E3 Series after being one of the first to pass UL’s stringent ninth edition testing for fire alarm control panels (FACP). The E3 Series is the only line of FACPs to feature a module design for a customized fit as well as complete system integration over just two wires (or fiber optic cables). Add the latest smoke control listing to these achievements and the E3 Series stands to be not only the industry’s best value, but one of the biggest life-safety innovations to-date.

Unlike ordinary FACPs, the E3 Series is designed to use the fewest number of multi-function modules. Whether building a simple, standalone FACP or configuring a sophisticated mass notification system, the E3 Series can provide the “right-sized” solution for any new construction or renovation project.

Additional E3 Series benefits include: - Distributed communication controls to increase the probability of system survivability during fire or other catastrophic event - Broadband network capabilities provide clear, intelligible instructions, whether automated or live - Visually clear and intuitive LCD screen assists emergency personnel response on-site
