Cernium Corporation Appoints Dr. Nikhil Gagvani as CTO

Veteran business executive and scientist to lead next generation of development at video analytics firm

Reston, VA - July 18, 2006 - Cernium Corporation, the leading provider of advanced video analytics, has announced the appointment of Dr. Nikhil Gagvani as Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Gagvani currently serves as Cernium's Vice President, Engineering and will assume a broader role spanning the development cycle from R&D to new product introduction.

Dr. Gagvani has more than 15 years of experience in computer engineering and product development, focusing on computer vision and video analytic technologies. At Cernium, he has guided the continued evolution of Perceptrak®, the leading intelligent video analytics system, and the development of new products, including the award-winning CheckVideo™ installation support software that measures and optimizes security camera video quality. Before joining Cernium, Dr. Gagvani led research, development and product engineering programs for Sarnoff Corporation and its subsidiary, Pyramid Vision Technologies, where he oversaw the technical development and market introduction of advanced video solutions for the security, surveillance, law enforcement and consumer electronics markets.

Dr. Gagvani holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Computer Engineering from Rutgers University and a B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. He has authored numerous publications on visualization, image processing, computer graphics and distributed computing.
