UK's IIPSEC Reports Successful 2006 Show

Feb. 2, 2006
UK IP security users and developers meet in Stoneleigh Park

As the security and BMS markets converged on Stoneleigh Park last week (Jan 24 – 26) one thing was clear – IP is here to stay.

More than 100 exhibiting, supporting companies and organizations gathered to demonstrate their wears to thousands of knowledge hungry visitors who had traveled from across the globe to acquaint themselves with the latest in cutting edge security technology.

End-Users jostled with integrators, consultants and other security professionals to learn more about the huge array of new and innovative products on display. IP-based CCTV utilizing Video over P technology was well represented with market leaders such as Axis Communication, Sony, Mobotix and Dallmeier demonstrating the very latest in Surveillance solutions along with the likes of Dedicated Micros, DVTel, Milestone Systems, Verint and many others presenting end to end solutions with real applications in a real life environment.

As the uses for IP based networked solutions grow and the applications for software innovations increase we are seeing joined-up surveillance, access control, intruder and fire systems utilize a common IP backbone and with an increase in “policy” bases management software and innovative display systems becoming available the industry’s stakeholders are certainly in for a treat.

The educational program proved the cornerstone of the week with an estimated 800 delegates attending the seminars, conference and presentations. Plus a huge number passing through the learning zone where hands-on workshops were giving the visitors an opportunity to get close-up and personal with the technology.

"I think that the success of IIPSEC week is due in no small part to the effort and commitment of the exhibitors and supporters 'The ‘quality time with quality people' ethic of the event has borne fruit and provided a platform for both exhibitors and visitors to gain knowledge and share ideas" said Paul Hennings, IIPSEC Director.

As more than 200 people sat down for the Gala Dinner at the Royal Court Hotel Coventry, there was a sense of anticipation as the award ceremony drew nearer – compared by Nigel Mead, close-up Magician and presented by IIPSEC Directors, Paul Hennings and Kevin Fagan.

The audience was as one in congratulating the recipients of this years IP in Security Innovation Awards – Following close scrutiny by a team of independent industry experts from the End-User, Integrator, Technology and Marketing disciplines, as always the cream rose to the top. The three awards for Hardware, Software and Application Innovation were closely run with Dallmeier, Codestuff and Borer Data Systems receiving the awards and Scottish based Codestuff walking away with the over-all Innovation title.

New for 2006 was the IP UserGroup Award. Nominated and voted for by the members there was one winner with Milestone Systems emerging clear favourites and taking the award.

For a full list of finalist and winners see below.

Now in its fourth year the event is set to grow again in 2007 with more than half the stands already booked. Organiser Kevin Fagan puts the success down in no small part to the event’s strong education programme, which he believes makes it unique in the world. Fagan commented “We are planning to deliver a wider range of education tracks for 2007. It’s clear that in a pre-competitive, fast-emerging market like this, industry education is what matters most – this is exactly what IIPSEC 2006 delivered.”

Dates for the 2007 are Jan. 23–25, in Stoneleigh Park, NAC, Near Coventry Warks, UK
