Biometric and smart card solutions developer SAFLink Corporation continues to move forward with solutions for the DoD's Commmon Access Card (CAC) program, which will see the deployment of 64K smart cards. The company has done so by announcing the release and shipment of its NetSign v5.5 smart card middleware for the CAC program.

The company has more than 550,000 licenses sold to the DoD, where the SAFLink technology is used to control network access.

The 5.5 version supports the Government Smart Card Interoperability Specification Version 2.1 and is designed to address the DoD's technology requirements. The new technology is being showcased this month at the DoD Identity Protection and Management Conference (Orlando) and at the DISA Customer Partnership Conference (Dallas).
