Additional contract is for an unnamed multi-facility prison system in a mid-Atlantic state

BELLEVUE, Wash. -- SAFLINK Corporation, a leading provider of biometric and smart card security solutions, today announced an additional contract with a multi-facility prison system in a heavily populated mid-Atlantic state. The contract, valued at approximately $600,000, is a follow-on order to an earlier award in which SAFLINK developed a security solution in conjunction with the state prison system to ensure the integrity of guard shift changes.

Initially, SAFLINK's SAFpassage product was used in a unique security configuration at five of the security system's 26 facilities. SAFLINK will now provide products and support for systems in the remaining 21 correctional facilities housing more than 40,000 inmates and expects delivery to take place in the second and third quarters of this year.

"This is a satisfying validation of the strength of our competitive advantage in combining biometrics and physical access and control capabilities to increase the level of assurance for important security needs in the marketplace," commented Glenn Argenbright, CEO of SAFLINK. "The customer's sophistication and evaluation process put our proposal to a real test. We now believe this solution can be replicated at correctional facilities in other states, and are actively pursuing these opportunities."
