Compass Technologies Introduces Suite of Access Control Products

Nov. 2, 2004
New software systems designed to operate systems for alarm monitoring, access control, visitor and vehicle tracking, ID badging systems and more

Compass Technologies has introduced a new suite of software for its SafeAxis, 5E and Navigator product lines. All three systems are based upon the same software platform, field hardware, database and user interface, providing true scalability. For system integrators, it means one product for their entire range of customers, reducing training costs and simplifying installation.

SafeAxis is a PC based access control, alarm monitoring and Photo ID badging system for small to mid-size applications. It uses Microsoft's MSDE database. It combines powerful software, simple to use operator screens, intelligent door controllers and flexible wiring topology to provide customers with capability found only in more expensive and more complex products.

Photo ID Badging, Graphical Maps, Visitor Scheduling/Tracking, Vehicle Tracking, and Anti-Passback and much more are included in the standard system software.

Compass 5E has been designed for mid-size applications. It can utilize either Microsoft MSDE or SQL Server databases. It efficiently, economically and reliably meets the security requirements for mid to large sized facilities, supports up to 512 readers and an unlimited number of cardholders, combines powerful software, simple to use operator screens, intelligent door controllers, flexible wiring topology and a host of customer focused features to provide a powerful, scalable solution to electronic security needs. 5E provides high-level system features such as Photo ID badge creation, Graphical Maps of the protected area, Visitor Scheduling/Tracking, Vehicle Tracking, Global, Soft, Hard, Timed Anti-Passback and more.

Compass 5E has been installed in a wide range of facilities around the world, including universities, airports, federal, state and municipal government buildings, offices and public utilities.

The Compass Navigator access control, alarm monitoring and photo ID badging system is designed for large, enterprise applications. Its scalable multi-server design can support more than 10,000 readers. It combines powerful software, industry standard SQL database, simple to use operator screens, intelligent door controllers, flexible wiring topology and a host of customer focused features to provide a powerful, scalable solution to electronic security needs.

Navigator employs sophisticated TCP/IP server forwarding enabling the user to configure all of their Services on one machine or mix-and-match services on several machines. The first service started on a machine becomes the TCP/IP Server. The server service forwards messages received from services to client services. Any service can assume the role of the server or the client. By providing this flexibility, Navigator offers true peer-to-peer capabilities.

The system features Photo ID Badge creation, graphical maps of the protected area, visitor scheduling/tracking, vehicle tracking, soft- hard- timed- global- and local- anti-passback, automatic date import. Software supports 1,024 card readers. Expansion options allow the system to grow in excess of 10,000 readers. The system can incorporate up to 50 full function operator workstations located anywhere on a LAN/WAN.

Compass Technologies designs, manufactures and supports Access Control and Security Management systems that integrate new technologies and exclusive features to enhance the safety and security of people, property and information systems.

Compass designs all of its hardware, software and firmware at the company's headquarters using leading edge practice such as Enterprise Requirement Planning and Six Sigma quality standards.
