Partnership with AccessID delivers unique capability to personalize access control cards with CardJet digital card printing

Fargo Electronics, Inc., a global leader in secure technologies for card identity systems, announced today that it has partnered with Access ID in the development of HID proximity cards specially designed for use in its CardJet series of inkjet card printer/encoders. AccessID specializes in using the advanced technologies of HID, Indala, and other technology providers to provide custom, secure card solutions for the electronic identification market.

"This leverages what CardJet Printing Technology brings to the marketplace," said Alan Fontanella, Fargo's head of product marketing for printer media. "CardJet represents a familiar technology that provides exceptional image quality at an affordable price point. Now it also offers the enhanced security and functionality that electronic cards can bring."

The new cards feature HID 125 kHz proximity technology with a 26-bit format (the industry's most popular format for HID's proximity access control readers). They're available in a generic, pre-programmed format or can be custom programmed with an organization's site codes and designated markings. The cards have a graphics-quality surface for optimal image resolution and dry-adhesion resistance. They are available in 50-card SmartLoad Card Cartridges for both the CardJet 410 and the CardJet C7.

"Our market research indicates that half of all new access control installations now require the integration of a card personalization system. The security professionals specifying these installations understand that adding a photo makes a prox card even more secure. And as the security market continues to grow, we envision additional electronic cards for the CardJet platform."

Other product line developments from Fargo

Using the same chemistry as the new prox card, Fargo has also developed blank card stock as well as magnetic stripe card stock for CardJet. These graphics-quality cards are available in 50-card cartridges for the CardJet C7 and 100-card cartridges for the CardJet 410.

New infrared blocking ink: A new formulation of ink is now available in CardJet SmartLoad Ink Cartridges. The new formula offers greater resistance to smearing, a particular advantage when printing bar codes.
