Access Specialties Inc. has announced plans to introduce a new network interface card, the NI-10

Access Specialties Inc., based out of St. Paul, Minn., has announced plans to introduce a new network interface card, the NI-10. The network card is designed to give the UP-2000 Universal Panel TCP-IP connectivity to Local or Wide Area Networks. It connects directly into one of the SIMM sockets (memory slots) on-board the UP-2000 access control panel to provide communications of up to 10 Megabits per second.

The UP-2000 Universal Panel, manufactured by Access Specialties, works in conjunction with either the Access Gold or ASI 2000 Access Security Integrator access control systems. It provides support for over 100,000 card holders and over 150,000 transactions. Wayne Erickson, president of Access Specialties, says "By providing on board network capabilities, we will enhance the speed, reliability and overall communications with our panels in a networked environment. He adds, "It also adds flexibility when configuring new systems." The NI-10 Network Interface Card is designed to work with existing UP-2000 Panels in the field. Existing panels may receive a firmware download to provide the necessary updates to support the new network card.
