LCD keypad combines HID smart card reader, access control and alarm keypad in one

Pacom Systems and HID Corporation have introduced a new LCD Keypad that combines the capabilities of an intelligent access control and alarm keypad with the convenience of a built-in HID smart card reader.

The Pacom 1062 Keypad is equipped with eight tri-color LEDs, which provide an at-a-glance overview of the status of each partitioned alarm area. The 2-line x 16 character Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and soft-touch keypad ensures simple operation.

With connections for a door contact, egress button and a relay output for a door strike, the 1062 iClass keypad is ideal for access control applications. To gain access to a door, a user simply places their individual card in the vicinity of the LCD screen. The system will identify the card and may (if configured) prompt the user to enter a PIN for added security. The 1062 keypad supports a range of smart card technologies including iCLASS, MIFARE Standard, Ultralight, and DESFire.

"Integrated smart card applications are becoming increasingly popular in the security industry." said Mark Scaparro, HID's executive vice president of sales. "Our relationship with Pacom enables us to combine our technologies to provide even more alternatives to our customers."

"Our customers have indicated that they want a convenient and aesthetically-pleasing device that can manage their access control and alarm requirements," said Andrew Minnikin, President of Pacom Systems North America. "We are pleased once again to partner with HID and extend our product range to cater to smart card applications."
