London, UK, - Shopping center specialist CCTV systems integrator, G1 Ltd have upgraded the existing CCTV system at Festival Place, a flagship regional shopping centre in Basingstoke owned and operated by Donaldsons Property Consultants.
In explaining the project, Chris Best, Director of G1 comments, "G1 worked with the local Basingstoke and the Deane Borough Council and advised the Shopping Centre on the best control room system to monitor and manage images from over 190 static and PTZ cameras installed across the centre."
After a successful trial period, G1 specified a digital recording system was selected to best suit the centre's requirements of an efficient system that could be able to work seamlessly 24-hours a day with the council system. G1 assisted with the design of a new control room including the networking of a LAN network connecting the digital recording system to RAID storage worth 6,000 gigabytes.
G1 also provides ongoing support and maintenance to Festival Place that includes best practice support and training on their systems.

It is therefore imperative that the centre has a CCTV system that can provide it with fast, accurate and reliable footage. The G1 system was chosen, after the completion of a successful trial period, as the system best met the centre's requirements. The G1 digital recording system provides a far better quality of footage than video tape."
Access time to locate specific video clips are located within seconds rather than having to trawl through a library of video tape. "Digital recording in the long term, will save the centre a great deal of time and money by removing the need to replace almost 3,000 tapes every year. We envision the system providing the centre with an excellent security service for many years to come," concludes Jane Stewart.
