Alien Technology Brings Aboard Transportation Expert for RFID Business Development

Robert McKinley, former director of security and airport systems at San Francisco Int'l Airport joins RFID company

Alien Technology announced that Robert J. McKinley, former Director of Security and Airport Systems at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), has joined Alien Technology as vice president business development. McKinley will lead Alien's business development and marketing efforts directed to RFID applications in transportation industries, including airlines and third party logistics.

"Bob brings to Alien extensive background in airport and airline operations with knowledge of operations, logistics, security and customer services," said Keith McDonald, Alien Technology's senior vice president, sales and marketing. "We look forward to his contributions in addressing the growing markets worldwide for RFID in transportation applications."

McKinley has over 30 years experience in aviation management, including senior management positions for airlines and airline services companies. In his former role, he was responsible for opening and managing SFO's $2.5B International terminal and, most recently, led the implementation of SFO's comprehensive 100 percent automated checked baggage inspection system. This $125M federally funded program is the largest and most sophisticated system in the world and is the model for many airports nationwide. McKinley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the University of San Francisco, and a Masters Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University.
