Retail scam used two shoppers, two inside cashiers

ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - A man and woman are accused of teaming up with two former Wal-Mart cashiers to steal thousands of dollars of merchandise.

Police say a customer standing in line behind John King, 35, and Mindy Vachon, 26, last summer noticed the cashier was only scanning the bar codes of inexpensive items, not several large electronic items. The customer followed them into the parking lot and copied down their license plate number.

King and Vachon, both of Somersworth, have been charged with stealing items worth least $1,000 each. The former cashiers, Jeni Foster, 18, of New Durham, and Amanda Seale, 19, of Farmington, face lesser theft charges.
