Axis Communications today announced the AXIS 213 PTZ Network Camera, offering advanced pan/tilt/zoom

CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, today announced the AXIS 213 PTZ Network Camera, offering advanced pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) capabilities for professional-level remote monitoring and surveillance. Operating under all lighting conditions, the AXIS 213 PTZ is ideal for installations that require round-the-clock, high quality video.

The AXIS 213 PTZ is the next generation model of the AXIS 2130 PTZ, one of the most successful PTZ network cameras on the market. The AXIS 213 delivers superior image quality with day and night functionality for surveillance applications over standard IP networks. With powerful zoom and advanced remote PTZ control, the AXIS 213 PTZ is an ideal solution for schools, offices, retail stores, construction sites and other facilities.

"The new AXIS 213 PTZ offers increased functionality, image quality and cost effectiveness over other options on the market," said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager of Axis Communications. "Whether zooming in on a store's cash register or monitoring school facilities, customers in any market can leverage the increased functionality offered by the AXIS 213 PTZ for high performance remote monitoring and surveillance applications."

The AXIS 213 PTZ contains a built-in Web server, compression chip and operating system, enabling it to connect to the computer network in minutes and transmit images over an intranet or the Internet. This allows users to view images and remotely control the network camera's sophisticated interactive PTZ capabilities via a Web browser or to integrate the network camera into Axis or ADP partner application software. In addition, the AXIS 213 PTZ can be mounted in an upright position or upside down in the ceiling for greater flexibility.

AXIS 213 PTZ contains built-in 26x optical zoom, an auto focus lens and IR mode for nighttime conditions. It delivers superior image quality in simultaneous Motion JPEG and MPEG-4 streams (the MPEG-4 will be available as a free downloadable upgrade in Q1 2005), with resolutions of up to 704 x 480 at 30 frames per second. For users requiring audio, the AXIS 213CM Connection Module is available as an accessory, adding two-way audio plus alarm inputs and outputs to the network camera.

The AXIS 213 PTZ will be available through Axis' distribution channels in late September 2004.
