BERWYN, Pa. - Aside from providing comprehensive security services and safety solutions to thousands of businesses and residences across the nation and abroad, Sonitrol is proud to be actively involved in many community relations efforts and partnerships to combat crime; educate on safety and security issues; and honor those who keep our communities safe and more secure.

During the 26th annual convention of the Florida Association of School Resource Officers (FASRO) held recently in Daytona Beach, FL, approximately 500 School Resource Officers (police officers) throughout the state of Florida attended to honor this year's "Florida Resource Officer of the Year Award." Sonitrol Corporation and Sonitrol Dealers in the state of Florida helped to sponsor the event once again and presented an award plaque including a $500 check to the recipient.

Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist presented this year's annual award to the entire Charlotte County School Resource Officer unit. This marked the first time a unit, rather than an individual officer, was honored with this award. During his presentation, the Attorney General mentioned that the Charlotte County SRO unit not only had to endure the death of last year's award winner who worked in the county at a school for students with special needs, but also had to help students and faculty get through the aftermath of Hurricane Charley as they all coped with the storm's devastating impact on their lives.

Sonitrol of Orlando's general manager Bill Ford, who attended the event on behalf of Sonitrol said, "(The event) was outstanding. The well-deserved award went to the Charlotte County SRO unit due to their heroic acts as they endured helping school children victims during the destructive hurricanes. These officers placed their call-of-duty in front of their own personal needs and hardships."
