The Panasonic WJ-HD300A Digital Video Recorder Series has been awarded the prestigious Industrie Forum (iF) Product Design Award 2005 at a recent ceremony in Hanover, Germany. The internationally renowned iF Design Award competition is held annually by the Industrial Forum of Design to promote excellence in industrial design, which includes ease-of-use, engineered components, and recyclability. It is one of the most coveted design awards in the world. Over 2000 products from 30 countries were entered in the 12 categories and selections were made by an international jury based on the product's innovative design and quality.

"We are very honored to have our WJ-HD300A DVR Series recognized with an iF Product Design Award," said Frank DeFina, President, Panasonic System Solutions Company. "The iF Award is internationally acknowledged as a sign of brilliant product innovation and outstanding quality and we are proud to be recognized in the same light as companies like Apple and Porsche." *

The WJ-HD300A DVR Series was recognized for its proprietary dual compression recording technology, featuring 500 lines of horizontal resolution on playback and allowing storage of approximately twice as much video per gigabyte of disk space when compared with conventional compression technology. In addition to the improved recording performance, the WJ-HD300A DVR Series offers a base disk capacity of 250GB and is expandable to 7.5 Terabytes. Also noted was the system's cutting edge technology that delivers the highest refresh rate (960ips) in the security industry, as well as built-in networking and switching capabilities with individual camera profiling.

With the addition of Panasonic's WV-AS60 Management Software and WV-CU650 System Controllers, operation of the WJ-HD300A Series DVRs can be further enhanced to include comprehensive networking capabilities employing up to 100 Panasonic DVRs and comprehensive control of Panasonic's dome camera systems. The new WJ-HD300A DVR Series includes the 9-channel WJ-HD309A and 16-channel WJ-HD316A.

DeFina noted this is the second iF Design Award for Panasonic Security Systems products, the first being for the WV-CW860 Series of outdoor surveillance dome cameras received in 2003. "An iF Award assures security professionals of our competence in designing and manufacturing a product that can be trusted when it comes to the security and protection of assets."
