MINNEAPOLIS -- BIO-key International Inc. the leader in finger-based biometric identification and wireless public safety solutions, announced that industry veteran, Kenneth S. Souza, has joined BIO-key and has been appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Prior to joining BIO-key, Souza was Vice President of Industry Solutions for EMC Corporation.

Prior to joining EMC, was Vice President for e-Commerce Enterprise Systems Solutions for Compaq Computer Corporation. His 25-year technology and market career includes serving in a number of executive positions with Digital Equipment Corporation including Vice President Worldwide Solutions Services and Training, and Director of Workstations Marketing. In the early 1980's, Souza held technical sales management positions with Hewlett Packard and Burroughs. Souza also held executive positions with a venture funded MRP software company where he was responsible for increasing revenues by 250%.
As CTO, Souza will be responsible for all research and product development for the company's biometric and wireless technologies. This includes creating new biometric solutions, integrating biometric security technology into wireless devices to secure and authentic identity to access devices, networks and applications. Additionally he will seek opportunities to leverage the company's existing technologies with new technologies and partnerships, providing increasing values-added solutions to our public safety and security conscious commercial customers.
