DGI's CoBRA Supports Homeland Security Efforts at Inauguration

Feb. 2, 2005

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Defense Group Inc. (DGI) continued its support of first responders in the Global War on terrorism in the nation's capitol by providing software with a "tactical mapping" module for event security at the Presidential inauguration on January 20, 2005.

Emergency response solutions, including CoBRA software, were deployed to several key federal agencies including FBI, Secret Service, DC Capitol Police and the Federal Protective Service as well as state and local agencies including DC Metropolitan Police, DC Metro Transit Police, Virginia State Police, Arlington Police Department and Fairfax County Police. The CoBRA solutions were also provided to key, multi-agency Inaugural Command Centers.

The tactical mapping module in CoBRA includes a complete site virtual walkthrough and tactical response plans - with links to appropriate contingency, emergency response and evacuation plans for each building mapped. These tools give responders who have limited prior knowledge of a location insight into the layout and potential hazards. The CoBRA(R) solution was used by responder agencies as a training tool during pre-event planning exercises as well as during the actual inauguration event. Several locations in Washington DC scheduled to host inauguration events were mapped.

The tactical mapping module was embedded in DGI's CoBRA software, which is an easy to use system that provides users with the necessary interactive tools, guides, ICS forms, SOPS, checklists and incident reporting infrastructure to manage any critical incident.

This program was funded by the FBI Bomb Data Center. Similar support is also being considered for high threat venues/areas nationwide.
