Facility receives two ISO certifications from a globally recognized testing, inspection and certification organization

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – (February 10, 2012) – Stanley Security Solutions (Stanley), a business division of Stanley Black & Decker and leading provider of integrated access control and commercial security solutions, announces that its Indianapolis Manufacturing Facility has achieved two ISO certifications from TÜV USA, a globally recognized testing, inspection and certification organization, for its commitment to providing a Quality and Environmental Management System.

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies from 140 countries to promote the development of standardization and facilitate an international exchange of goods and services. Becoming ISO-certified solidifies a division's commitment to continual improvement in quality and operations processes. ISO certifications leverage success in new markets, address operational efficiencies and significantly increase customer satisfaction levels. Typically, achieving ISO certification for the first time takes approximately two to three years. The Stanley Indianapolis Manufacturing Facility received ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications within just 14 months. The expedited certification process is largely credited to the complete support of Stanley's management, dedicated workforce and basic processes already in place.

"I'm very proud of the performance of the Indianapolis team in obtaining these certifications," said Kirk Stinson, President for Mechanical Access-Commercial at Stanley. "We see this as the next step to support the organization in a global environment."

The ISO 9001 certification recognizes Stanley's efficient operations, well-defined and documented production processes and lower rejection costs. By achieving the ISO 14001 certification, Stanley meets an internationally recognized standard that enables organization to maintain a balance between profitability and a healthy environment.

"These certifications demonstrated the Indianapolis team's passion for eliminating roadblocks, which would hinder our competitiveness in a global market, Stinson said. "The planning, focus and execution of the entire plant to achieve these certifications shows the commitment to customer satisfaction and support of the Stanley Fulfillment Systems."
