Surveillance system aids police department, housing authority in Ga. city

Valdosta integrates 20 network cameras using Iron Sky's map-based surveillance system
March 7, 2012

In a unique partnership between the Valdosta Police Department and the Valdosta Housing Authority, the city integrated 20 IP-based, pan/tilt/zoom cameras onto the Iron Sky map-based surveillance system, helping police monitor and protect Hudson Dockett Homes. Iron Sky technology allows officers to view high-definition footage from laptops in their patrol cars with just two mouse clicks.

Detectives took action when live camera footage revealed a man loading a gun in Hudson Docket. They quickly detained the suspect and located the weapon, which had been reported stolen.

"Our officers do a great job protecting the residents of Valdosta," said Commander Brian Childress. "Iron Sky's surveillance system gives us one more layer of crime-fighting tools, and helps officers resolve cases quicker."
