Lancope appoints Jim Magers as vice president of engineering

Long-time technology industry veteran to oversee successful development and delivery of company's flow-based StealthWatch System

ATLANTA, July 24, 2012 – Lancope, Inc., a leader in flow-based security and network performance monitoring, has announced the appointment of Jim Magers as vice president of engineering. Having held executive-level positions at software companies across the Atlanta area, Magers will play a strategic role in ensuring continued innovation, high-quality development and scalable delivery for Lancope’s award-winning StealthWatch System. He brings to this new position a strong expertise in the Agile software development methodology and more than 25 years of experience managing and leading technology teams across industries including security, financial services, healthcare, education and human resources.

Previously, Magers has held the role of vice president of product development for security firm nuBridges. He also held several vice president level roles with financial services technology provider CheckFree over the span of 12 years in the areas of corporate development, product management and product development. As SVP of product management, he defined the strategic direction of CheckFree’s Electronic Commerce Division, managing a staff of 60 product management and product design professionals to deliver solutions to clients including Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Wachovia and SunTrust. Overall, he has 20 years of experience in financial services.

Highly experienced at implementing the Agile software development methodology, Magers has also acted as an independent consultant providing training, coaching and enterprise transformation services to help introduce Agile methods into organizations of all sizes. Most recently, he served as vice president of product development for educational software provider Performance Matters. Before that, he was chief technology officer at Brightree, a billing and business management technology provider for the medical industry, where he was responsible for product development, product management, quality assurance, internal IT support and data center operations.

Previously, as a vice president at ADP, Magers led a team of software engineers who designed and implemented custom payroll programs for Fortune 500 companies. Throughout his career, he has led engineering and product management and design teams totaling close to 100 professionals. Magers holds a degree in business administration with a concentration in information systems from the Georgia State University J. Mack Robinson College of Business.
