Award honors innovation in eCommerce payments and fraud

SEATTLE, WA (12 Dec., 2013) - The MRC today announced that it’s now accepting nominations for the annual emerging technology award, also known as the METAward. The METAward honors and celebrates successful innovation and the newest technologies in the electronic commerce industry. Awards are presented to solution providers in both the start-up and established company categories whose creative innovations and advanced technologies have contributed to the commercial and operational success of online and multi-channel merchants.

“Our merchants are leaders in their respective verticals, representing popular global brands,” said Tom Sullivan, interim CEO of the MRC and former senior director of payments and global risk at Expedia. “Innovation and new technology are at the core of our industry, allowing merchants to minimize online fraud, optimize payments globally and add value to their bottom line.”

The nominated solution or product must be available for online or multi-channel retailers to deploy or use with the purpose of improving their operational efficiencies with respect to measuring, monitoring or mitigating card-not-present fraud; advancing data security; improving online payment acceptance and processes; and/or, advancing the MRC’s vision of making electronic commerce more efficient, safe and profitable.

All global solution providers, third-party vendors, card brands, processors and acquirers are eligible to submit a nomination, free of charge, for the METAwards. A secret panel of merchants will review all submissions and select the top three finalists in each category who will be invited to present to more than 1,000 merchants at the MRC’s 2014 eCommerce Payments and Risk Conference, 14-17 Mar., in Las Vegas. Winners will be selected through live voting.

Sullivan added, “MRC’s METAward not only recognizes the latest technologies and most valuable solutions in ecommerce, but it’s also a stamp of approval by merchants, for merchants.”
