Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel is the first to implement a full IP system

Brick, NJ (July 12, 2016) – The new Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel in Murphy, North Carolina, is the first of the tribe’s casinos to feature a video surveillance and security system that is one hundred percent IP. The system for the new casino was designed and built by North American Video (NAV) in consultation with surveillance management from Harrah’s Cherokee Casinos.

“Our other property has a hybrid system but because this is a brand new casino, we were able to implement a full IP system,” said Charles Owle, Regional Vice President of Security and Surveillance for Harrah’s Cherokee Casinos. “We are impressed with how many time-saving features become available with IP and how easy it has been to adapt.”

The video surveillance and security system is built around a Dallmeier SeMSy® III Enterprise package with 800 inputs and a Dallmeier failover and archive server. A total of 767 Dallmeier IP cameras including 533 fixed and 234 PTZ cameras were installed throughout the casino and resort property and the camera system is integrated with the Software House access control system. The control room features 14 Dallmeier workstations with full function keyboards and video management software.

Along with recording, monitoring and archiving video images, the system is integrated with the Casino’s POS (point of sale) equipment through eConnect software which allows operators to view the POS data transactions complete with the associated video.

“We are very proud to show off our new system to other casino management teams who want to come through and for that we thank NAV,” said Mr. Owle. “They did a superb job, but we knew they would because we’ve worked with them before. They have the experience and staff that was needed to complete the job on time and without any serious problems.”

An enterprise of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation, Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel is located near Murphy, North Carolina. The casino features 60,000 square feet of gaming space with more than 1,000 slots and 70 traditional table games.

“It’s always gratifying to be selected for a new project by an existing customer based on their satisfaction and success of previous projects,” said Laurie Smock, Vice President, North American Video. “The Management team at Harrah’s Cherokee worked with us extensively to evaluate what they wanted from the new system  and their partnering approach made the design and build process that much easier.”
