LOUISVILLE, KY, June 12, 2012 – Honeywell’s newest addition to its line of Vindicator security technology takes high-end security capabilities typically used at critical infrastructure sites such as military bases and adapts them for use at commercial and industrial facilities. The new Vindicator Standard Edition (SE) security platform is ideal for high-end commercial sites including airports, corrections facilities and utilities.

Having achieved several of the security industry’s most-stringent certifications required by government bodies, including certification for Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) communication by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the field-proven Vindicator products are used by critical infrastructure sites across the globe as their central hubs for processing and routing security system data to operator displays. This allows operators to use a single workstation to manage security-related event data gathered from interior and perimeter intrusion, video detection, access control and fire systems.

“With threats constantly evolving, we’re finding that many of our commercial and industrial customers have a great need for the types of security capabilities required by military and government installations, but cost and complexity have been obvious adoption barriers,” said Franco van Heijningen, general manager for Honeywell Vindicator Technologies. “Vindicator SE makes these capabilities more attainable for those customers. It minimizes complexity by reducing the amount of customization required, and it keeps deployment costs low.”

Vindicator SE is based on two components: the Vindicator V3 Head-end Server, and the Vindicator Command and Control 2 (VCC 2) user interface.

  • The V3 Head-end Server routes security-related events to the operator display. It also communicates over any existing infrastructure to keep deployment costs low, and its embedded design is a strong defense against hacking and worm/virus attacks. Armed with on-board cryptography as well as inputs and outputs from sensors and readers, the standalone V3 Head-end Server operates independently of PCs to offer a simple, cost-effective solution with virtually no maintenance.
  • VCC 2 is the user-interface component of the Vindicator SE. It provides a user-friendly, map-based display of all system event data received from the V3 Head-end Server. Its intrusion detection capabilities include instantaneous communication of alarm events and the ability to acknowledge, secure or manage alarm points. New access control monitoring capabilities include the ability to lock down entire areas, in addition to allowing operators to view personnel in a specific area. User-friendly icons and assisted response procedures increase the operator’s situational awareness and reduce guard response time, increasing protection for personnel in the field. VCC 2 also has the ability to draw cordons, making mustering and evacuation procedures simple, accurate and timely.
