New NVRs available in 8 and 16-channel models

Optiview Inc. has released a brand new line of low cost embedded NVRs and compatible IP cameras. These new embedded NVRs make the world of high definition surveillance affordable to the everyday consumer.

An embedded Network Video Recorder (NVR) is similar to the more familiar embedded Digital Video Recorder (DVR) in that the operating system and the video processing software is all built-in to the unit. The difference is that an NVR connects to IP or Network cameras (which can offer megapixel high definition resolution) whereas DVRs typically only support analog cameras (which only support D1 / not high definition). Embedded NVRs eliminate the need for individual computers to be set up with hardware, software, and licensing to manage and store the high definition video data transmitting over the network. The embedded NVRs reduce cost by designing and manufacturing the computer specifically for this use. Since the software and licenses come bundled with the hardware, the overall cost is greatly reduced.

“With the release of the embedded NVRs we are able to offer the most affordable IP solutions on the market. Where most IP NVRs require licensing and hardware, our embedded NVRs have the licenses included. These machines are a great cost effective way to give customers the video quality they have been asking for and do it for half the price of other distributors.”, says Gary Bibeau, Sales Director at Optiview.

Optiview is offering their embedded NVRs in 8 channel and 16 channel models. They all support high definition recording (they will record from D1 real time up to 2MP 1920x1080). The ‘Pro’ full-size model can support up to 8 hard drives (up to 24TB) and has an optional DVD. The ‘LT’ smaller size model can support up to 2 hard drives (6TB total). The central management software (CMS) that comes with the embedded NVRs are compatible with all of the analog and IP cameras, DVRs, and NVRs in Optiview’s VR Series of products. This provides true integration and an upgrade path from analog to digital technology. More details about the new products can be found on Optiview’s website.

Optiview has a history of innovating new products in the CCTV market. They have plans to release a weatherproof NVR in the very near future. Optiview won a Top 30 Technology Innovation award from Security Sales and Integration magazine for their weatherproof DVR in 2010.
