New locks feature sleek style, simple installation and enhanced value

NEW HAVEN, CT, July 21, 2014 – Underscoring its position as a leading innovator in residential locks, Yale Locks & Hardware today announced the availability of a new line of Z-Wave® key free cylinderless deadbolts that feature a sleek new look, easier installation, one button Z-Wave enrollment, and superior value.

The new Yale Real Living™ Key Free Push Button B1L and Key Free Touchscreen T1L Deadbolts follow Yale’s introduction last year of the industry’s first cylinderless deadbolts, which offer integrators simplified installation and homeowners superior security. For integrators, installation is a much smoother process without a cylinder since no keying is required. For homeowners, eliminating the keyway provides a more secure product by making the lock pick and bump proof.

“Since we introduced our first key free products we’ve seen strong consumer demand for these locks,” said Jason Williams, General Manager, Yale Residential. “Consumers recognize the enhanced security that comes with the absence of a cylinder, and because of that strong acceptance we’ve expanded our line with these new, sleeker cylinderless models priced to appeal to an even broader market.”

To enhance curb appeal, the new deadbolts offer a clean, modern appearance, with a sleek new design that is the smallest residential keypad for a Z-Wave lock. The push button version comes with a black push button keypad that illuminates when touched and is both easy to use and attractive. The touchscreen model features a durable black acrylic capacitive touchscreen that illuminates when touched. Universal lock and programming symbols are featured for ease-of-use.

Integrating the locks into a Z-Wave home security or home automation system is simple thanks to their new one-button Z-Wave enrollment. Smart home functionality varies from system to system, but possibilities include lock and unlock doors from a smartphone, tablet or PC from virtually anywhere in the world, schedule users or create customized entry scenes for family members, neighbors and service providers, and even automatically receive an alert when a child has arrived home from school.

The Key Free B1L and T1L boast the quality cues of Yale’s current lock line, including fully gasketed installation, ANSI/ BHMA grade 2 certification, motorized tapered deadbolts, and intuitive phone layout keypads. For additional homeowner peace of mind, ample warning is provided before the locks’ batteries lose power, and if connected to a home control system the system may generate “low battery” email or text alerts. Should the batteries drain, terminals on the bottom exterior of the lock accept a nine-volt battery, which provides enough power to enter the code and gain access.

The Z-Wave key free deadbolts integrate into a wide range of security and home control systems, including Alarm.com's emPower™, which supports 2GIG, Interlogix and Qolsys systems; Honeywell’s Total Connect; DSC; and the Vera Z-Wave home control system by Mi Casa Verde, among others. The locks are available from leading industry wholesalers and online retailers. The B1L is available this month. The T1L will be available next month.
