MBO Increases Network Security with Sentarus Threat Management System
CARPINTERIA, Calif. -- Demarc Security, a global provider of dynamic threat management solutions, announced that MBO Corporation, an Oklahoma-based full-service telecommunications provider, has selected Sentarus to protect its IP networks.
MBO, located in Mannford, Okla., offers broadband services from one of the world's most advanced optical access platforms providing OC3, OC12, OC48, ATM Packet Switched, DS1, DS3, Ethernet, and IP data services. MBO enables various customer applications, including voice, digital video, IP video, wireless, long distance, Internet, and high-speed data communication services.
According to a recent report from Technology Futures, Inc., "Forecast for Higher Bandwidth Broadband Services," by 2006, U.S. broadband penetration will likely reach 50% and, by 2010, 10% to 20% of households will subscribe to very high-speed broadband. One of the factors driving the increase cited in the report is the increase in demand for IP video.
MBO is a growing provider of IP-based services to a four state area of the Midwest through MBO Video. The company began to see an increased number of attacks against hosts on their networks as well as those of its downstream companies and customers. To improve their already strong security posture, MBO chose Sentarus to add intrusion prevention, host-based intrusion detection, and vulnerability assessment scanning to its existing security line-up. Intrusion prevention combined with the ongoing vulnerability assessment and host-based intrusion detection provided by Sentarus will allow MBO move to a proactive, preventative security approach by resolving potential weaknesses before they can be exploited.
"Sentarus keeps us abreast of potential vulnerabilities within our networks, and enables us to prevent attacks before any damage is done," said Bruce Cannon, System and IP Network administrator for MBO. "It is an enterprise-strength, feature-rich product that easy to install, configure and deploy."
