The EBLA are designed to celebrate business acumen and innovative spirit and are widely regarded as one of the highest recognitions of outstanding leadership. The nominations were announced by Mick Buckley, President and Managing Director of CNBC Europe , during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, held from 23-27 January in Davos, Switzerland .
The Awards programme, which is presented by CNBC Europe and for the first time conducted in partnership with the Financial Times, is now in its fifth year. The awards are highly regarded as CEOs from the FT Europe 500 are invited to join an independent EBLA Nominations Panel and vote for peers they believe are leaders making a significant impact in expanding global business in Europe .
Dr Mike Lynch founded Autonomy in 1996 based on his research at Cambridge
University and rapidly established the company's reputation as a
world-leading provider of infrastructure software for unstructured

Dr Lynch is a past winner of the CBI's Entrepreneur of the Year Award, a non-executive director of the BBC and a non-executive director of blinkx plc. He studied Electrical and Information Sciences at Cambridge and received a Ph.D. in adaptive techniques in signal processing and connectionist models, and a research fellowship in adaptive pattern recognition. He also holds the Institute of Electrical Engineers' medal for outstanding achievement.
