Siemens Lands Deal to Secure AOL Arena in Germany

Company to provide state-of-the-art access control system, communications and computing system for 2006 World Cup stadium

Security, automation and communication system integrator Siemens has landed the contract for the access control, communications and computer technology at the AOL Arena, which will be used for the 2006 World Cup, according to German website Heise Online (

According to the report, the access control system is designed to meet FIFA's standards for stadium control. Siemens will be using its on IP system for wiring the stadium. Siemens has said that ticket formats including barcodes and RFID and eventually smart cards will be compatible with the system.

The contract for the security and communications integration project was with the German soccer team, Hamburger Sport Verein, which is the home club of the stadium.
