The CMOOR Group has introduced a new service to help manufacturers have their instructor-led and online training programs accredited through the extensive CEU (Continuing Education Units) approval process for over 10 national and more than two dozen state agencies.
Through years of research and by maintaining strong industry relationships, CMOOR has built an expertise that directs clients how best to position their courses for CEU accreditation and which professional and technical development credits will best serve them in the industry. CMOOR then works directly with the certificating agencies on behalf of their clients to have course content approved.
Because regulations and requirements vary from agency to agency and state to state, approval is not always an easy process. Some agencies won't grant CEU credit to product training courses. Some agencies require membership as a CEU provider prior to submitting a course for review. Some require only an outline while others require full speaker bios and course content be sent for review.
"We've researched CEU requirements, both nationwide and on a state level, in order to craft the content and focus of our clients' courses so they will have a much better chance of gaining approval," said Connie Moorhead, president of The CMOOR Group.
CMOOR works closely with 10 national associations and multiple state agencies to earn CEU approval for their clients. The national associations include, but are not limited to: The American Institute of Architects (AIA); ASIS International; Construction Specification Institute (CSI); National Systems Contractor Association (NSCA); Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI); Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA); National Training School (NTS); and National Institute for Certification of Engineering Technologies (NICET).
Recently, after investigating the process on their own, Integral Technologies Inc. sought out CMOOR to get its DigitalSENTRY course CEU accredited through ASIS, NICET, NTS and BICSI.
"If we had pursued accreditation on our own, we would still be spinning our wheels," said Jeff Roach, Integral's training manager. "Because CMOOR knows the requirements for each association, they were able to get our course accredited by all four agencies in plenty of time before its planned January 2007 launch."
When HID Corp. wanted its six online courses approved for CEU accreditation through NTS and ASIS, the company sought out a familiar partner in CMOOR, which had worked to develop the online courses initially.
"Because of our positive relationship with them, CMOOR was the logical choice to get our courses CEU-approved," said Bill Richardson, HID's training manager. "They proved to us that not only are they experts in eLearning, but they also had the knowledge and experience to get our courses approved rather quickly."
Extending this service further, CMOOR works with manufacturers who want to develop internal certification training programs. It is becoming more and more common for manufacturers to strengthen the value of their education offerings by including certification standards. These manufacturer certifications often require the student to meet education and/or testing requirements in both industry and product specific knowledge.
"We look at our client's primary objective and determine the scope of their certification program. By reverse engineering the curriculum, in many instances we are able to provide much of the content from our extensive library of industry training materials" said Moorhead.
