A Launceston company will develop a ground-breaking underwater surveillance system with the help of federal funding.
MICT One Limited has been given about $50,000 to build a prototype of its low cost vehicle which can survey and analyse underwater locations.
The disposable device works by remote control and uses low-light cameras and image recognition technology.
It will be aimed at markets like port security, hull and pipeline inspection and sea floor mapping.
