American Video Electronics Inc. (AVEI) of Denver, Colo., has been a granted a patent for their removable storage and systems hard drives contained in their LX series Digital Video recorders. The company patented Hot Swapable Storage drives help to eliminate downtime due to drive failure, and also allow for the removal and safe keeping of the storage drives. The hot swappable system means that the drives can be removed and replaced with out the powering down the system.
