ONVIF, a standards initiative for IP-based security products, announced last week that it recently held its sixth Developer's Plug Fest earlier this month in Chicago.
According to a statement, the plug fest, which was hosted by security products distributor Anixter, drew representatives from more than 20 different member manufacturers and featured more than 250 hours of testing.
The event, which was second largest plug fest to date, was also the first opportunity for engineers to test their company's implementation of ONVIF's Profile S specification that was released earlier this year. More than half of the nearly 30 devices and clients tested were prototypes that align with Profile S, the standards group said.
"ONVIF developer's plug fests are an ideal opportunity for ONVIF member companies from all over the world to verify their ONVIF interoperability with many other manufacturer's technology at one time, in a highly technical and open setting," said Canon's Takahiro Iwasaki, chairman of ONVIF's Technical Services Committee Taskforce, Developer's Plug Fests. "This recent event in Chicago provided a very timely opportunity for testing of devices that align with Profile S prior to those being released to the market."
The next plug fest is scheduled to take place in September in Asia. ONVIF will also be hosting an interoperability demonstration later this month at ISC West.
