According to news reports from CBSNews.com and KPTV (FOX) in Oregon, a Multnomah County police officer ended a potentially dangerous situation involving an armed man in Portland Adventist Medical Center yesterday.
Inside the emergency room, Deputy Roger Gelvick was watching an inmate when James Stevens leaned into the room where Gelvick and the inmate were and signaled to the officer. Stevens then rushed at Gelvick with a knife. Gelvick grabbed his TASER and was able to incapacitate and arrest Stevens on site.
All the action of the incident was caught on the hospital's surveillance video tape.
