Awards to be presented during ISC West

Miami, FL (January 15, 2014) – Mission 500, a non-profit initiative focusing on the security industry and dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis, is seeking applicants for both the 2014 Mission 500 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award and Humanitarian Award. The Awards will be presented at a special cocktail reception on April 3rd, 2014 during ISC West in Las Vegas.

The Mission 500 CSR Award honors a company in the security industry that has made a significant contribution to those in need. The judging criteria includes an assessment of applicants’ CSR programs as they relate to effectiveness in helping the communities they focus on, involvement of company personnel, the sustainability and long term impact of the programs and activities that go beyond financial contributions.

Any company in the security industry may be nominated. A judging panel evaluates applicants according to the above-mentioned criteria and applicants’ respective contributions toward social causes. The CSR Award recipient in 2013 was systems integrator Convergint Technologies. The company celebrates Convergint Social Responsibility Day each June, and is involved with many causes and has contributed to more than 120 organizations since 2002.

During ISC West, Mission 500 will also present its Humanitarian Award, which recognizes individuals in the security industry who have made important contributions to those in need. The 2013 recipient was Michael Keegan, a veteran of the security industry and Vice President of the Board of Directors for Teton Youth and Family Services (TYFS) in Jackson, Wyoming. For several years he has organized and spearheaded a golf tournament that unites the community and raises more than $35,000 each year for the TYFS programs, which focus on improving children’s lives by providing services ranging from prevention to residential care that address behavioral, emotional, and/or mental health issues. TYFS has been serving children and their families since 1977, and has helped hundreds of young people stay out of trouble and hundreds more find their way out.

An Entry form must be filled in and submitted prior to February 14th, 2014. Forms can be obtained from George Fletcher at [email protected].
