AIREF swings at workforce shortage with ISC West Golf Classic

April 8, 2019
All proceeds from April 9 event to be dedicated to solving the security industry’s skilled labor shortage

The 2019 AIREF Golf Classic will direct all proceeds from its April 9 event into combatting the security industry’s skilled labor shortage. This tournament – the organization’s sole fundraising event – will be held at the Las Vegas National Golf Club, where industry figures will network and play guilt-free golf for a cause.

Over the past 15 years, the AIREF Golf Classic has raised funds for significant research and education initiatives. Continuing this mission in 2019, the tournament will support workforce development efforts to attract more qualified talent to our growing and evolving industry amidst a daunting workforce shortage.

“The skilled labor shortage is reaching epidemic proportions,” says Merlin Guilbeau, CEO of the Electronic Security Association. “For the first time, there are more job openings than there are eligible workers to fill them — and economists have us bracing for wage pressures to build with higher competition and inflation.”

It’s clear that 2019 won’t be any easier on the industry. If security professionals don’t do something impactful together — the long-term consequences will be devastating.

That is why this year the AIREF Golf Classic will funnel all proceeds to position the industry as one of choice for job seekers. This important initiative will impact the industry we all share and love for years to come.
