Scam reported to use wireless cameras to record and steal card information

California bankers are reporting a new scam at ATMs, and this is one you might not have heard of yet.

According to the California Bankers Association, the perpetrators are attaching a remote, wireless camera to the ATMs that is designed to appear integral to the ATM machine, and is designed look like part of the card reader that every ATM uses.

According to the association, the device take photos of the user's ATM card and wirelessly transmits them to some type of recorder (possibly even a hand-held device used by the perpetrators in a close-by area).

The California Bankers Association said that there have been only a few reported incidents of this activity, but the group has issued consumer advisories to ATM users.
