barox Kommunikation has launched xNMS, a new network management software platform designed to improve the efficiency and transparency of video and security networks by centralizing the configuration, management and maintenance of complex infrastructures.

The platform is designed to support the full lifecycle of a network, from planning and deployment through ongoing operation. According to the company, xNMS helps address the challenges of managing increasingly complex security network environments by providing intelligent network discovery that automatically scans existing infrastructures for switches.

The software converts the physical network into both a list view and a graphical topology, giving users a visual representation of the network. This visibility is intended to simplify day-to-day administration while helping accelerate troubleshooting when network issues occur.

One of the platform's key features is an integrated Diff Checker, which monitors differences between a stored target configuration and the live network configuration in real time. The tool is designed to identify unauthorized or accidental configuration changes immediately, helping minimize operational risks and maintain consistent network standards.

xNMS also enables users to configure and verify switches virtually before hardware is delivered. By allowing configurations to be completed in advance, the software can identify dependencies and potential bottlenecks before installation. According to barox, this capability supports an almost "plug-and-play" commissioning process that can speed deployments and reduce errors.

The company also said planned software updates will add firmware and backup management capabilities. Future releases will allow the platform to centrally store multiple versions of switch configurations, enabling users to roll back to previous states when needed.

xNMS will be offered in two editions. A free version will include the platform's core network management features while a paid version will provide the full feature set, including capabilities designed for larger or more critical infrastructure deployments.
