ASSA ABLOY Updates Openings Studio With Expanded BIM and Lifecycle Management Tools

ASSA ABLOY has released Openings Studio version 3.29, adding expanded BIM integrations, enhanced field tools and new capabilities designed to connect door opening information throughout the building lifecycle.

ASSA ABLOY has released version 3.29 of Openings Studio™, its BIM-enabled software platform for door hardware specification, opening coordination, and lifecycle management. The update introduces modernized BIM workflows, expanded integrations with Autodesk® Revit® and GRAPHISOFT® Archicad®, enhanced mobile field tools, and new capabilities designed to improve collaboration among design, construction, and facility management teams.

Openings Studio connects opening information from specification through ongoing operations, helping project teams reduce coordination errors, streamline documentation, and maintain a digital record of opening assets throughout the building lifecycle.

The release features a refreshed user interface with light and dark themes designed to improve visual clarity across complex door schedules while aligning the application with ASSA ABLOY's updated design language.

Version 3.29 also adds tools intended to help teams address project coordination challenges, resolve errors earlier and manage complex documentation more efficiently.

“This latest release is all about openings made easy. It includes features that are custom-built to provide specification and field teams with tools to reduce friction and maintain real-time information, whether they’re at the office or off-site. We are listening to our users and ensuring that Openings Studio continues to deliver a world-class experience,” said Erin Desman, President, Building Technology Solutions.

BIM teams can now work in Revit® 2027 and Archicad® 29 without interrupting active projects. The update also provides field teams with improved mobile keying and stronger NFC tag security to reduce the risk of overwriting information in shared workflows.

The release marks the beginning of an integration with SiteOwl®, connecting door opening design with physical security lifecycle management. Through the integration, users can transfer floor plans and electrified opening information from Openings Studio into SiteOwl, helping connect design, installation, and ongoing facility operations.

By linking these workflows, ASSA ABLOY said organizations can maintain greater continuity of information throughout the building lifecycle while establishing a foundation for future capabilities intended to further streamline project delivery and asset management.
