Squire Locks USA has introduced its Vulcan™ range of resettable combination padlocks to the North American locksmith and security hardware market, expanding its portfolio with products designed for demanding industrial and critical infrastructure environments.

The company said the Vulcan range is intended to provide locksmiths with an alternative to lightweight resettable combination locks commonly found in retail channels. The locks are designed for customers in sectors including energy, utilities and transportation where products must withstand frequent use and harsh outdoor conditions.

Unlike many consumer-focused combination locks, the Vulcan range is available exclusively through professional security hardware distributors. Squire said this approach allows locksmiths to specify and sell the products without competing directly against retail shelves or commodity online pricing.

"Locksmiths regularly encounter customers who want to eliminate keys but are dissatisfied with the construction and service life of ordinary, retail-grade resettable locks," said Jerry Burhans, North American Commercial Leader for Squire. "Vulcan gives them a much stronger option they can confidently recommend for these infrastructure-related applications."

The Vulcan padlocks feature hardened boron steel shackles that Squire reports are 80 percent tougher than conventional hardened steel shackles. Additional features include an armored body, fully recodable combination wheels and push-button opening. Larger models are available with four- or five-wheel configurations, providing either 10,000 or 100,000 possible combinations.

The company also highlighted the locks' front-facing dial arrangement, which is designed to improve visibility and ease of operation compared with traditional bottom-dial designs. Squire said the layout allows workers to view the painted numbers and operate the combination without crouching or reaching beneath the lock, making it suitable for remote sites, outdoor installations and situations where technicians are wearing work gloves.

The Vulcan lineup is available in 40 mm, 50 mm and 60 mm body sizes with standard open-shackle, long-shackle and closed-shackle configurations. According to the company, the range is intended for applications including meter boxes, remote equipment enclosures, gates, cabinets, pump jacks, transportation assets and energy installations.

Squire identified the Vulcan Combi 50 as a model particularly suited to the North American market. The lock features a four-wheel resettable mechanism with 10,000 possible combinations, a weather-resistant protective cover and a hardened boron steel shackle. It is offered in standard, 2.5-inch long-shackle and closed-shackle versions and is backed by a 10-year manufacturer guarantee.

The company said the Vulcan range provides locksmiths with an entry point into the growing critical infrastructure and industrial security market by allowing them to offer a durable, application-focused solution supported through professional distributors.
