Codelocks Inc. has launched ConnectShare, a new range of smart locks that uses cell phones to simplify access and lock management.

Part of the Connect by Codelocks solutions, ConnectShare locks build on the company’s existing range of connected locks with new features and enhanced connectivity. The locks offer three access modes: user code, RFID card and cell phone. They are managed through the Codelocks Connect App, which provides remote management of the locks from a mobile device.

“Cell phone access and sharing is one of the primary features of the new products,” said Matt Welty, Vice President at Codelocks Americas. “Admin can share access to other users’ phones with a few simple clicks. It’s as easy as that. What’s more, unlike many other smart solutions, there are no hidden subscription fees. Users just download the free app, then they’re good to go.”

The Connect App enables several features, including Codelocks NetCode Technology for generating date- and time-sensitive codes. GuestCode allows guests and temporary users to set their own access code for the duration of their stay. Do Not Disturb mode provides occupants with privacy control for applications such as private spaces and changing rooms.

Additional functionality includes Multi-Admin, which allows operators to assign shared management of individual locks, and Dual Authorization, which requires two valid credentials to be presented to unlock the door for higher-security applications.

ConnectShare also introduces an activity log, which Codelocks says is a first for the Connect by Codelocks range. The feature can record who has accessed a door and when, making the locks suited to regulated environments where sensitive materials or data may be present.

“At their core, they still are simple standalone locks,” Welty said. “They are quick to install, easy to maintain, and backed by our award-winning customer service and technical support.”

ConnectShare locks are available in two models. The CL4500CC is a medium-duty option available with latch and mortise configurations, while the CL5500CC is a heavy-duty option supporting latch, lock and panic access. Both models are available in Brushed Steel, while Solid Black is also available for the CL5500CC.

The CL5500CC has achieved UL 10C certification and a maximum three-hour fire rating. According to Codelocks, the lock can be used on any fire-rated opening without negatively impacting its fire certification and safety.
