New research says market will reach over $1B by 2012

According to a study released Tuesday by UK-based IMS Research, Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 is expected to boost the access control market in the Americas, reaching over $1 billion in revenues by 2012.

Though growth in the market has been stymied by a multitude of factors related to implementation of the directive, the analyst who authored the report, Niall Jenkins, says that the outlook for the market is promising.

"While there have been a number of issues with HSPD-12, the market is now looking more buoyant with most of the enterprise solution providers beginning to see additional revenues for the directive," Jenkins said in a prepared statement. "Government agencies are beginning to build the mandate into their financial plans and there are rumors of additional government funding. HSPD-12 is now expected to drive real market growth from 2011."
