Atos wins contract from French government

Company to provide biometric passports, equipment

Atos Origin, the French IT services company, has won a contract worth several tens of millions of euros to produce biometric passports and equipment for the French government. Atos won the contract in partnership with the smart card maker Sagem.

Under the terms of the call for tenders, 2,000 town halls and 350 public offices will be equipped with digital machines for central information management by June 2009.
