DENVER -- BSI2000, Inc., a leading developer of high-end access control security systems for commercial and governmental use, announced today that Michael O'Connell has joined the company as vice president of business development.

O'Connell has served as vice president of marketing and E-Commerce for Pixxures/The MapFactory in Golden, Colo.; vice president of marketing for Image Scans/Genesys of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; and vice president of marketing and business development for Xiox in Burlingame, Calif.

In his prior positions, O'Connell regularly had multi-million dollar sales (e.g., $20 million over three years) in newfound channels. He achieved a 75% success rate in accelerating federal and state purchasing cycles by 67% by writing RFPs, Innovative Partnerships (IPs) and Creative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs). Additionally, he opened 10 new sales channels that each produced $2 million to $8 million in revenue during the first year. O'Connell also wrote business plans and financial projections that led to $8.5 million first-round financing and $8.5 million in first-year sales. He created direct mail programs with a 30% success rate versus the industry standard of less than 1%, and he received widespread public recognition with articles simultaneously appearing in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and ABC News.

Jack Harper, CEO of BSI2000, said, "I am pleased that Michael has joined our company. I am impressed with his record of helping to launch and cultivate young technology companies. I believe his experience in identifying and ferreting out new business opportunities will be instrumental in helping our team take BSI2000 to the next level of development and beyond."

O'Connell said, "With the continued U.S. vulnerabilities in homeland security, identity thefts, and financial crimes, nothing could be more important than helping to protect our people, places, borders and water. Selling BSI2000's robust, patented product line of solutions will serve, not only the interests of our shareholders, but also the well-being of the United States."

O'Connell has a B.S. in business administration with honors in accounting, management, marketing and statistics from the University of Denver. He has completed half the requirements of an MBA with emphasis in revolutionary product marketing, marketing communications and integrated marketing from the California Institute of Technology (CalTech). He is also working on a master's degree in ethics.
