Suprema Introduces XPass Q2 QR and RFID Reader for High-Volume Access Environments

Suprema’s XPass Q2 reader supports QR, barcode, RFID and mobile credentials in a single device for high-volume access points.
Suprema has announced the launch of the XPass Q2, an intelligent QR and RFID reader designed to support facilities managing high volumes of users across visitor, membership and ticketing environments.
As QR codes continue to serve as a standard credential for visitors and ticket holders, whether printed or mobile, the XPass Q2 is built to align with this shift. The device combines native QR and barcode authentication with RFID card and BLE and NFC mobile credentials in a single reader, enabling operators to manage employees, visitors, members and ticket holders through one device without requiring separate systems or dedicated entry lanes.
The XPass Q2 features a dedicated scanning module engineered for fast and reliable reads across varying lighting conditions and presentation distances. Suprema states that clear LED indicators and adaptive audio feedback are designed to help maintain throughput in high-traffic entry points. The reader also carries an IP65 rating, supporting deployment in both indoor and outdoor environments.
The device integrates natively with BioStar X, allowing operators to manage visitor workflows, membership access and ticketing within a unified platform. Third-party visitor management and ticketing systems can connect through the BioStar X API to support workflows ranging from pre-registration and credential issuance to real-time access logging and compliance reporting. In addition to QR functionality, the XPass Q2 supports standard barcode formats to expand compatibility with existing ticketing systems.
For organizations seeking to expand beyond static QR codes, Suprema’s CLUe cloud integration platform provides a pathway for dynamic QR capabilities and additional credential use cases.
“QR codes have become the standard credential for visitors and ticket holders, yet most facilities are still running readers that treat QR as an afterthought,” said Hanchul Kim, CEO of Suprema Inc. “XPass Q2 was designed the other way around delivering the performance and simplicity operators need to confidently manage every user type from a single device.”
