GDX Next brings together Comelit’s door entry systems and PAC’s access control hardware into a single platform that supports audio and video entry while integrating access management capabilities.

Comelit-PAC has introduced GDX Next, the next generation of its established GDX door entry platform, aimed at supporting the operational and security needs of local authorities and private social housing providers managing residential estates.

GDX systems have been installed for many years across local authority and social housing properties, helping manage secure access to apartment buildings and shared entrances. As housing providers oversee increasingly complex estates, expectations for door entry systems have evolved. Beyond securing entrances, systems are now expected to be straightforward to manage, adaptable across different buildings and capable of supporting long term estate remote management strategies.

David Hughes, Head of Product Management at Comelit-PAC, said: “For managing large residential estates, local authorities and private housing providers rely on door entry systems to maintain security and day-to-day operations. When developing GDX Next, we wanted to create a platform that reflects the way these systems are used in practice. This meant focusing on simplicity, flexibility and creating a solution that housing teams can manage confidently over the long term.”

GDX Next combines Comelit door entry technology with PAC access control hardware into a unified platform supporting both audio and video door entry alongside integrated access management. The platform is designed to simplify infrastructure while providing housing teams with flexibility to manage systems over time.

The updated design reduces complexity for installers and building managers. A common hardware and cabling structure across handset options streamlines installation, reduces component requirements and supports more efficient upgrades and long term maintenance across large estates.

GDX Next also provides multiple access management options. Systems can operate as standalone installations, be managed via PC based software or administered remotely through cloud based Housing Central. Multi technology readers and a range of handset options allow housing providers to tailor solutions to operational needs and resident preferences.

Accessibility has also been incorporated to support inclusive use across residential environments with varying requirements.

David Hughes added: “Door entry systems in residential buildings need to be dependable, straightforward to manage and capable of supporting buildings for many years. GDX Next has been designed to provide this dependable long term foundation for local authorities and private social housing providers as the way residential buildings are managed continues to evolve.”
