A new facial recognition camera is aiming to simplify and scale security operations by combining image capture and identity matching into a single device.
Much like license plate recognition transformed perimeter security with intelligent cameras at the edge, the SAFR SC850 applies a similar approach to facial recognition. The device integrates image sensors, onboard processing and recognition algorithms, allowing face matching to occur directly on the camera rather than relying on external systems.
By performing recognition on the device itself, the SC850 removes the need for expensive GPU servers and lowers infrastructure costs. The approach also reduces complexity for integrators and security teams because deployment involves installing a camera rather than building out supporting server hardware.
Accuracy and bias reduction are supported through two main factors. The system uses a highly accurate, low-bias algorithm that has been tested by NIST. It also performs matching using a high-quality, uncompressed facial image captured on the camera.
The result is enterprise-grade performance delivered through a single integrated camera, designed to provide recognition capabilities with the simplicity of standard camera deployment.
