May 31, 2005

French airline Air France has announced that it is ready to launch a pilot biometric security system at Paris' Roissy Charles De Gaulle airport from June 1.

Dubbed Pegase, the project will invite passengers at the airport's terminal 2F to give volunteer their fingerprints in exchange for a card which will allow them to pass through an automatic security checkpoint. The programme will be open to all passengers regardless of the airline on which they are travelling.
