Frost & Sullivan Recognizes Motorola for Leadership in Biometrics
In its recent analysis entitled, World AFIS and Live-scan Markets, Frost & Sullivan named Motorola's Biometrics Solutions as the recipient of the 2004 Frost & Sullivan Award for Competitive Strategy Leadership for capturing and solidifying its market presence and for the company's seamless integration of law enforcement and public safety solutions.
Motorola, Inc., a global leader in providing integrated communications and embedded electronic solutions, is a leading vendor of Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS) technology. With immense technological expertise and more than 30 years of experience in implementing AFIS, Motorola's systems are deployed in 37 countries across the globe. Motorola also has one of the largest support and service organizations in the market.
"By adding AFIS to the criminal identification workflows, Motorola has been able to expand its customer base,'' says Prianka Chopra, Frost & Sullivan biometrics program manager. ``From an AFIS customer base of law enforcement agencies, it has been able to include other public service agencies such as the California Department of Welfare under its fold.''
Motorola distinguishes itself by offering AFIS as part of its criminal justice solution rather than providing AFIS as a stand-alone product. Motorola's Digital Justice Solution (DJS) encompasses a comprehensive portfolio of integrated systems capable of meeting the mission-critical needs of the public safety and law enforcement communities.
The integration framework helps ensures information is shared automatically between the different departments that make-up the DJS. Further, the modular and scalable nature of DJS allows customers to accommodate new modules to improve operational efficiency.
Motorola also has upgraded its technology over the years. Motorola Biometrics Identification System is the ninth generation of AFIS technology and includes palm-print capabilities and integrated biometrics. Faster matching speeds have been attained with a new next generation high-speed matching solution.
"Its integrated approach to criminal identification, excellent service and support, and the continuous advancement and depth of product solutions has ensured that Motorola is poised to enhance its market position in the AFIS market,'' concludes Chopra.
